Don't Hold Your Breath

There’s a moment in every birth when time seems to stop—when we’re waiting for the baby’s first breath, the first cry that signals life. The irony is: in that moment, everyone else holds their breath.

This week’s message invites us to notice all the ways we still do that. In seasons of transition or fear, in moments of uncertainty, we hold our breath—hoping, worrying, anticipating what’s next.

The prophet Joel speaks into a moment like that. His world was full of upheaval, loss, and fear. But the word from God is not judgment—it’s promise. God’s Spirit will come, not just for the

prophets or priests, but for everyone. The old will dream again. The young will see visions. And those who cry out will be saved.

The question isn’t if God will breathe. The question is: will we receive the breath—and let it move through us?
